The right deck brings people outside. It connects the rooms you spend the most time in to a space built for morning coffee, dinners outside, better views, and more reasons to stay home. Our team creates high-end outdoor spaces in Spokane, Coeur d’Alene, and the surrounding area for people who want the outside of their home to feel as finished and intentional as the inside. With premium materials, a seamless experience, and our 10-year structural warranty, we build decks made to look better and last longer.
We design and build high-end decks based on how the space will actually be used. For some homes, that means a clean deck off the kitchen. For others, it means more room for hosting, a multi-level layout, wider stairs, built-in seating, or a design that works around a hot tub, pool, view, or existing patio. We talk through your ideas, priorities, and preferences so you end up with a finished deck you’re proud of.
Not every old deck needs to be torn down, but not every deck is worth saving either. We start by inspecting the framing, connections, and overall condition so you know what actually makes sense. If the frame is solid, resurfacing can be a smart way to upgrade the surface without rebuilding what does not need to be rebuilt. If the deck was built poorly, has hidden damage, or would cost too much to repair correctly, we will tell you when replacement is the better long-term investment.
Every railing has to meet code, but that does not mean every option belongs on your deck. The right system can protect your view, open up the space, and help create the look you actually want. We help you choose between steel, aluminum, cable, glass, and custom welded railing based on the style you want, the view you want to keep, and the maintenance you are comfortable with. Details like drink rails, top caps, and color choices help the railing fit the rest of the deck design.
Good deck lighting lets you keep using the space after the sun goes down. Whether you are hosting friends, having dinner outside, grilling at night, or moving between the house, stairs, yard, hot tub, pool, or patio, the right lighting makes the deck safer and easier to use. We plan step lights, post lights, and accent lighting around the deck layout so each light has a clear purpose.
The right structure can turn an exposed deck into a space you use in more seasons. Pergolas, roof covers, gazebos, and other custom wood-framed structures can add shade, define the space, and create a place for features like lighting, fans, heaters, fireplaces, and wind screens. We build these structures around how you want the space to feel and function, whether that means summer shade, better winter comfort, a covered dining area, or a more high-end outdoor room.
Pacific Northwest Decks was founded in 2020 by me, Caleb White, after years of building decks and working in construction. I started working summer construction jobs as a freshman in high school and later served six years in the Washington National Guard as an infantry mortarman. Those experiences shaped how I run this company today: disciplined, direct, and unwilling to put my name on work I would not be proud of.
Pacific Northwest Decks is owner-led on purpose. I stay directly involved in the planning and field execution, and I keep the project list limited so the work never turns into a volume game. The mission is simple: build the best decks in Spokane, Coeur d’Alene, and the surrounding area using high-end materials, better planning, and attention to detail that shows in the finished product. Our full deck builds are backed by a 10-year structural warranty, 5-year workmanship warranty, and 5-year waterproofing warranty. I offer that level of coverage because I am willing to be accountable for the work long after the project is done.
The builder you choose matters long before construction starts. A premium deck project needs detailed planning, the right materials, honest recommendations, and someone accountable for the final result. Pacific Northwest Decks takes on a limited number of projects so each build gets the time, communication, and care it deserves.
Pacific Northwest Decks is owner-led, so the standard is personal. Caleb stays directly involved in the planning and build process. We only take on a limited number of projects each year because premium deck work demands more planning, time, and care than volume builders can give.
Premium deck projects leave no room for poor communication. We talk through the plan, explain the important decisions, and keep you informed as the project moves forward. You should never feel left guessing what is happening, why it matters, or what comes next.
A premium deck should come with more than a promise. We start with a detailed scope so you know what is included. Our full deck builds are backed by a 10-year structural warranty, 5-year workmanship warranty, and 5-year waterproofing warranty.
The right answer depends on your home, the condition of the existing deck, and how long you plan to stay. Sometimes a repair makes sense. Other times, replacement is the smarter decision because another repair would only delay the same problem. We look at the options as if it were our home and our money.
Tell us what you have now, what you’re considering, and where the project is located. Photos or videos help us understand the current layout, access, condition, and scope before we review the project and reach out.
Send us the details of your deck project and we’ll review whether it’s a good fit for our schedule, scope, and service area.
Premium Deck Building Across Spokane & Coeur d’Alene
Most new decks take anywhere from a few weeks to a couple of months once construction starts. Smaller, simpler decks move faster. Larger builds with multiple levels, stairs, railings, lighting, covers, or detailed finish work take longer. We give a rough timeline before the project begins, but we do not rush the details or finish work just to hit an arbitrary date. The goal is to build something we are proud to stand behind.
The majority of the time, yes, but permit requirements depend on where the home is located and what is being built. Spokane, Spokane County, Coeur d’Alene, Kootenai County, and surrounding jurisdictions can all have different rules based on deck size, deck height, and roof covers. A permit also creates an official record of the project with the jurisdiction, which can matter for home value, insurance, and avoiding issues if you decide to sell the home later.
It depends on whether the existing deck is worth putting money into. Repairs and resurfacing make sense when the structure is solid enough to justify the work. If the deck is unsafe, poorly built, rotting, or will need repairs soon, replacement is the right call. We won’t recommend resurfacing a deck that should be replaced, and we won’t recommend replacement when the structure is worth saving.
Maintenance depends on the materials. Wood requires the most care, eventually needing to be resealed. Composite, PVC, and porcelain require less maintenance, but they still need cleaning. Railing maintenance depends on the system. Glass railing gives you the clearest view, but the panels need to be cleaned on both sides. No deck is truly maintenance-free. The best choices are the ones where the benefits justify the maintenance.
Yes. Full new deck builds are backed by a 10-year structural warranty, 5-year workmanship warranty, and 5-year waterproofing warranty. Repair and resurfacing warranties are handled separately because the existing structure affects what we can responsibly stand behind. Every proposal explains the warranty for that specific scope before work begins, so you know exactly what is covered.
Material options depend on the project and the level of finish you want. This includes framing, decking, railing, lighting, and finish details. Wood, composite, PVC, porcelain tile, steel, aluminum, and other premium options all have different strengths, costs, maintenance needs, and long-term tradeoffs. We explain these differences clearly so you can choose materials that support the look, feel, and use you want from the finished deck.
Not all proposals are created equal. Two deck projects can look similar in size and shape, while the materials, framing, railing, waterproofing, finish details, warranty, planning, and overall build standard are different. The difference starts before the proposal is ever written. We ask questions about how you plan to use the space, how long you plan to stay in the home, and what you want the space to become. Our proposal is built around that conversation, so you know what it costs to create the space you actually desire.
