Why Are We Talking About a Fake Review
If you’re like most homeowners searching for a contractor, you’re probably combing through Google reviews trying to figure out who you can trust. We get it. We’d do the same. That’s why we wanted to share something that happened recently at Pacific Northwest Decks: we received our very first fake review.
At first, it stung. But honestly, we’re proud it happened, and we want to explain why. This post isn’t about complaining. It’s about being transparent, showing you what we believe in, and helping you understand why reputation matters when you’re choosing a builder.
What Happened
A one-star review popped up from someone named Patrick. Here’s the strange part: we’ve never worked with Patrick, never quoted Patrick, and never even spoken to Patrick.
In the review, he claimed we used cheap day laborers, posted project photos without permission, built a deck that fell apart in six months, and it was fixed by another local deck company. We triple-checked. No record, no client, no project.
We reported it to Google for removal, but honestly, we’re proud it happened. Getting a fake review means we’re starting to get noticed. It’s a strange milestone, but it signals that we’re growing, that competitors are paying attention, and that the work we’re doing is making a real impact. In a way, it’s proof we’re not just another small builder — we’re becoming a name people know in Spokane and Coeur d’Alene.
Why Reputation Matters So Much to Us
Pacific Northwest Decks isn’t a big operation doing hundreds of decks a year. Since we started in August 2020, we’ve completed just 66 projects. That’s on purpose. We’re not chasing volume; we’re focused on doing really good work for homeowners who care about craftsmanship, durability, and getting it right the first time.
I’m the owner and I’ve personally been involved in every project, not just working hands-on at the job site but also writing the blog posts you’re reading, and checking every beam, every joist, every screw. That’s not something you get from a high-volume contractor, and it’s part of why our reputation matters so much locally.
What Makes Pacific Northwest Decks Different
Here’s what I stand by as the owner: every project is handled by our small in-house team, using premium hand-picked materials and built with care and attention to detail from start to finish.
We also back up our work with a 10-year structural warranty, a 5-year workmanship warranty, and a 5-year waterproofing warranty. We’re not the cheapest, and we’re not trying to be. We’re here for people who want quality they can count on, year after year.
How We Handle Feedback and Make Things Right
If a real client has a concern, we take it seriously. I show up, I listen, and I make it right because that’s just who we are as a company.
As for fake reviews, they don’t help anyone. They don’t help homeowners looking for real answers, honest businesses trying to serve their communities, or the people who just want to know they can trust who they hire. They distract from what matters most: the families we serve, the decks we build, and the trust we work hard to earn every day.
A Thank You to Our Real Clients
To every client who’s worked with us, left a review, or referred us to a friend, thank you. Your words matter. They help good families find a builder they can trust, and they help small businesses like ours stand strong in a crowded space.
If you’ve worked with us but haven’t left a review yet, we’d truly appreciate it. Your voice makes a real difference.
